AI conferences with student discounts and travel grants (Dec 2026 to Apr 2027)

Several big AI conferences between December 2026 and April 2027 still offer real student prices, and a few student grant and volunteer programmes are open right now or open this month. The cheapest option we found is the online AI+HEALTH conference from Stanford (student or trainee pass from $25). For in-person events, student rates run from about $150 to $750, and the best way to get in free is usually to volunteer or apply for a subsidy. Below are 9 events we checked on their official pages on 4 November 2026, with the student price, any grant or volunteer deadline, and what is already closed.

December 2026

ACML 2026, Melbourne (1–4 Dec)

The 18th Asian Conference on Machine Learning has a clear student rate on its registration page. The early rate ended on 1 November, so the standard prices now apply: USD 550 for students against USD 850 for the full rate. There is also a one-day pass at USD 250. Registration includes tutorials, workshops, the welcome reception and the conference banquet, and students must show their student ID at the desk. If you are a student author with exactly two accepted papers, you can register one at the full rate and one at the student rate.

AI+HEALTH 2026, online (8–9 Dec)

Stanford AIMI’s 6th annual virtual conference on AI in health and medicine is the cheapest event on this list. On the official page, the full-time student or trainee rate is $25 until 7 November and $50 after that (verification required), against $500–$550 for corporate attendees. Sessions run 8:00 am to 2:30 pm Pacific time on both days, so check how that falls in your time zone. If you work in health AI, this is an easy one to say yes to.

SIGIR-AP 2026, Singapore and online (13–15 Dec)

The ACM information retrieval conference for the Asia-Pacific is hybrid, and its fee table has student prices for both formats. In person, a non-member student pays $590 until 10 November, $670 until 25 November and $750 until 12 December. ACM student members pay $80 less at each step. Online, a non-member student pays $300, $340 or $380 over the same dates. You need to upload a scanned student ID. The online student rate is one of the cheapest ways to follow a full ACM conference this winter.

ACCV 2026, Osaka (14–18 Dec)

The Asian Conference on Computer Vision runs workshops on 14–15 December and the main conference on 16–18 December. Its registration page lists a Student Full Passport at JPY 90,000 now that early registration has closed (it was JPY 80,000 until 7 October). The full passport is JPY 130,000. ACCV also ran a USD 1,000 student travel grant for students from under-represented groups, but its deadline was 26 September.

January to April 2027

WACV 2027, Orlando area (4–8 Jan)

The IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision takes place at Disney Springs, with workshops on 4–5 January and the main sessions on 6–8 January. The pricing page shows a clear deadline: early prices end on 7 November at 11:59 pm Eastern time. Until then, an in-person student passport is $475 for IEEE or CVF members and $525 for non-members; after that it is $575 and $625. A virtual student pass is $125–$150 early and $150–$175 standard. If you plan to go, this is the one deadline on this page that is only days away.

AAAI-27, Montréal (16–23 Feb)

AAAI is one of the biggest general AI research conferences. Its Student Scholar Volunteer Program opens on 30 November and closes on 4 December 2026 (11:59 pm Eastern). It gives partial travel support to full-time students who are AAAI members, have submitted a paper to the conference, and have a letter from their faculty advisor. A limited number of free technical-programme registrations go to students who volunteer. The organizers are firm on one point: do not register before you hear back, or you lose the free registration.

EACL 2027, Athens (9–14 Mar)

The European chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics has two routes in. The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion subsidies can cover registration fee waivers, travel and accommodation, caregiving, accessibility, bandwidth and VPN costs; the deadline is 10 January 2027. Priority goes to authors, first-time attendees and people with financial hurdles. The student volunteer call opens on 16 November 2026 and also closes on 10 January, with decisions on 18 January. Volunteers get free registration to the main conference, workshops, tutorials and social events (covering the early registration fee). If you apply for a fee waiver, wait for the result before you register.

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe and Agentics Day, Barcelona (15–18 Mar)

For students who build agents and AI infrastructure rather than write papers, CNCF’s European conference has a flat academic rate: €250 for the All-Access pass, which includes the co-located events on Monday 15 March such as Agentics Day: MCP + Agents, or €180 for the main conference only (21% VAT is added on top). It does not rise with the early-bird dates. You need to upload an institution ID with an expiry date, a current transcript, or proof of full-time status. CNCF also runs two support programmes: a Dan Kohn registration scholarship (free pass; deadline 5 February 2027) and a Travel Fund for economy travel and hotel, paid back after the event (deadline 18 January 2027).

OAI Conference 2027, Atlanta (31 Mar–1 Apr)

The Optimized AI Conference at the Cobb Galleria Centre is for builders and decision makers, with talks from teams running AI in production. Its ticket section lists a Student Pass at $150 (it was $100 until 1 November) with full access to talks and workshops. Register with a university email or bring a student ID. The page also says students can volunteer and get a pass free.
