What is re:Invent?
re:Invent is the biggest annual event run by AWS. The official page calls it “cloud and AI’s biggest week” and says it is where “the cloud and AI community comes to work through what’s next.” New AWS services are announced during the keynotes, and the rest of the week is about learning how to use them, in sessions led by the engineers and architects who built them.
AWS says 70% of the sessions are interactive. Formats include workshops and labs in groups as small as 10 people, chalk talks where architects draw solutions live, code talks with live demos, builders’ sessions (one problem and about 15 practitioners), lightning talks, bootcamps and 500-level deep dives. One change for 2026: re:Inforce, AWS’s separate security conference, is now part of re:Invent, with security content all week and a security focus day on Thursday at Wynn.
Who is it for?
The official page splits the audience into two groups. For people who build and implement, the draw is getting hands-on with new services the same week they launch and asking the teams behind them hard questions. For people who lead and strategize, AWS points to customer stories, curated learning paths by role and executive meetups.
If you build AI agents or LLM apps on AWS, this is the week when new AI services and features tend to land. AWS’s keynote page recalls that last year it launched “everything from next-generation chips and developer tools to innovative AI agents” on stage. Customer stories from 2025 include Vercel using Amazon Bedrock for its AI coding agent v0 and WRITER running agentic workflows with Bedrock. If you don’t use AWS at all, a smaller and cheaper agent-focused event will likely be a better use of your money.

Getting there and getting around
Fly into Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). You can pick up your badge right at the airport in Terminals 1 and 3, which the agenda lists as open 7:00 AM to midnight on Sunday 29 and Monday 30 November. Badges can also be collected at MGM Grand and The Venetian. Bring a government-issued ID.
Sessions are split across several resorts on and near the Las Vegas Strip. AWS runs free shuttles between the venues during conference hours, and badge holders ride the Las Vegas Monorail free. The official advice is to allow 30 to 45 minutes between sessions at different venues, so try to group each day’s sessions by venue.
- Hotels: discounted rates in the official room blocks were offered through 5 November 2026, so from now on expect to book on the open market.
- Under 21? The FAQ says you must be 21 to reserve a room at the re:Invent campus hotels, except Treasure Island, unless you check in with someone aged 21 or over.
- Visas: coming from abroad, check US visa or ESTA rules now; there is little time left before the event.
Tips from the official guidance
- Reserve seats, don’t just favorite. Reserved seating is open for workshops, chalk talks, code talks, bootcamps and select labs. Favoriting a session does not hold a seat, and a reserved seat is released if you aren’t there 10 minutes before the start.
- Full session? Look for “-R”. Repeat sessions carry -R in the session ID, and there is a walk-up line on site.
- Use the AWS Events app. It has your schedule, maps, shuttle times and an AI assistant for session picks.
- Pack for walking and dry air. AWS suggests broken-in shoes (plus a spare pair), layers, a power bank, a refillable bottle and snacks.
- Upload your photo early in the registration portal to speed up badge pickup.
- Evenings are optional. The schedule includes receptions and a Thursday party; the learning content is in the daytime sessions, and keynotes and breakouts are posted on demand after the event.
- Can’t travel? Sign up for the free livestream from 9 November to watch keynotes, theater sessions and guided labs.
